           Snail Shell Harbor Background:

Snail Shell Harbor is located off of Big Bay De Noc, a bay on the north end of Lake Michigan.  The harbor was part of a bustling industrial community in the late 1800's when iron ore was processed and transported on ships.  The area in now part of the Fayette Historic State Park.
